In late 2008, Make Up Designory (MUD) produced and began generously donating 100% of the sales of a limited-edition eye shadow palette to NextAid through their MUD Cares initiative to help fund construction on the Red Rhino Orphanage Project (RROP) in Kenya. In addition to providing children a safe and loving home, RROP also funds the children's educational pursuits from elementary school through secondary and university or trade school. In 2010, Red Rhino completed construction of the site, including two timber-framed children's homes and a common facility for cooking, group meals, and large gatherings, and recreation. MUD's $25,000 donation funded one of the two children's homes. Red Rhino is now home to 22 children, ranging in age from 4 to 12, and is looking after their long-term wellbeing by providing not just a safe place to live, but quality education, psycho-social support, and a loving environment.

NextAid's Program Director visited Red Rhino in February 2011 and was impressed by how well run this children's home is. The children come from heartbreaking backgrounds, many orphaned or abandoned under dire circumstances, and have made vast improvements in physical and emotional wellbeing in their short time at Red Rhino. The orphanage facilities took five years to build, but the payoff in attention to detail and use of appropriate technology is clear. The dry, rural setting of the orphanage means that they have a severe water shortage, but they have alleviated this problem with sophisticated rain water harvesting and stringent conservation efforts. Their "Bio-box" compost toilets are quite impressive. But truly, the most inspiring aspect of Red Rhino Orphanage is the immense labor of love that has gone into creating a more hopeful future for the children they are taking care of. The founders, donors, staff, volunteers, and community that support this project are making a huge difference. Thank you for being a part of these little smiling faces!
With the help of a promotional campaign by lovely superstars Colette, DJ Rap, Eve Falcon, and Samantha James, NextAid has increased efforts to sell the remaining palettes. To help spread beauty from the inside out, purchase this limited edition palette at MUD Shop.
